I think this is what I want to do, even though my dad considering getting a pimp bike is tempting me the geared way. I'm going to stick to fixed and commit to that damn brake. (Just imagine it's not there Jarrett!) Anyways, I'm going to invest instead on the baller parts first. That means:
Baller Bottom Bracket - NJS or Phil Wood
Baller Crankset - 48 tooth or higher, NJS or FSA carbon
Baller pedals with toeclips - NJS, MKS, Dura - Ace with Double Straps - Toshi
Baller Chain - Izumi
Baller Cog - EAI supercog, but not really as urgent as those above...
I think I'm going to keep the wheels and hubs that I have, since they are really nice. But I do need to get:
Baller tires - specialized? (Do more research here)
Alright, so that leaves the frame and the rest of the components. Specifically, that leaves:
Baller Frame
Baller Headset
Baller Stem
Baller Track Drops
Baller Seat Post
Baller Saddle
and might as well
Baller Brakes (though, I can't conceive how that can be)
So the plan is, that I shoot for the top list first, and get a cheap frame that can house those parts for now. This will allow me to be on the road as soon as I get the parts so I get used to the track components and the notion of a track frame. That way, I know exactly what geometry to get when I do go for the baller frame. Sides, I already feel that's gunna have to be custom. (Broakland Bike by Montano Velo, perhaps?)
So the question is, what cheap, preferably new (so I can ride it ASAP and return it if need be) track frame can house those baller-ass parts? I rub my chin in contemplation. But the research starts here. Will it be an Iro frame, Pake, or Surly?
