and I want it. Here's the story from today's Cannondale submission in the fixed gallery.
Hey Dennis, your site facilitated the inspiration for my latest project. This is a Cannondale System Six that was custom welded with 120mm rear spacing and track drops. This change in spacing and dropouts gave the seat tube a nice 74.5 degree seat tube angle and slightly bumped up the head tube as well. I was able to custom roll extra layers of carbon into the tubes to create the strongest and stiffest System Six frame on the planet. Through a special process, I was able to "delete" the cable guides and give the frame a smooth, clean look. I also "deleted" the brake bolt hole in the fork since it would never be needed.
The lugs connecting the carbon and aluminum were carved by key-files (not laser cut) to resemble a design influenced by the shape of a spade. You can see the difference in materials due to the blue-tinted paint which gives the carbon a very deep sheen and the aluminum the appearance of a candy finish. I also took a Deda Pista bar, FSA carbon post, and Cannondale stem, stripped them, and painted/decaled them with the same blue tinted clear. I wish the pictures did the bike justice because the pearl overcoat pops in the light and begs to be touched. It's all I can do not to waste my day staring into it.
To finish her off (her name is Isabel) I used Cane Creek Volos wheels, a Dura-Ace 16t Cog, Cannondale Hollowgram SI anodized black 53t Crank, and a beefy KMC Cool Chain SL. All I'm missing is the ground effects! What do you think??
